I’m a UCSB graduate (Statistics & Data Science + Biopsychology) and NYC-based tutor living in Chelsea, with over 5 years of one-on-one tutoring experience. My focus is on making tough material feel approachable while helping students develop durable problem-solving habits.
Outside of academics and tutoring, I work as an EMT while preparing to apply to medical school. In my free time, I enjoy reading, surfing, swimming, and playing guitar.
“Jonah is incredibly patient and thoughtful. He explained concepts clearly, never made me feel ‘dumb,’ and went over problems until I really understood.
I didn't always love math and science. Exceptional teachers in high school and college changed that—they made complex concepts clear, relevant, and engaging. Their approach transformed how I see STEM education.
This experience drives my tutoring philosophy. I work to spark the same curiosity and understanding in my students. My goal is to build both confidence and passion for learning that extends beyond grades to a holistic appreciation for these subjects.
Because these subjects didn't come naturally to me, I had to work hard to truly understand them. This struggle taught me how to break down complex concepts into simple, digestible pieces. I remember the frustration of not getting it—and I also remember the incredible reward when things finally clicked. This perspective makes me both empathetic to the challenges students face and skilled at finding new ways to explain difficult topics until they make sense.
